Children
- and adults too - had a marvellous time at a Praise Party led by Dave
Godfrey on 6th November. Dave is an experienced primary teacher, trainer,
presenter, author and songwriter. His Omegazone team has been part of
the 8-11 children’s programme at Spring
Harvest since 2001. Dave soon had everyone singing, dancing and laughing
as he shared the Good News of Jesus’ love with them.
Earlier
in the day, Dave had led a training seminar for children’s workers.
The 45 delegates heard about Jesus’ passion for children and considered
how that should inspire our provision for them. They also discussed how
to get children excited about the Bible and how to keep control of a children’s
group. In this last session, delegates gleefully returned to their childhood
as they pretended to be characters in a nightmarish children’s group.
It was great fun as well as being a thought provoking experience.
Fiona Jenkins, who organised the day, said “It’s been a wonderful day of learning, celebration and above all fun. People came from all over the diocese and from other denominations too. It’s great that we can all come together to share and learn from one another in order to serve our children better. We’re very grateful to Skipton Deanery for funding the event; their backing gave us the confidence we needed in order to ahead.”
